For its day, the arpege had a very modern design with an overall length of 9.25m
(30 ft 4 inch), beam of 3.02m (9 ft 11 inch), and draft of 1.35m (4 ft 5 inch).

The bulb keel makes for quick tacking but still handles seas quite well.
The bottom has been completely stripped and faired, since then only ablative
bottom paint has been used which keeps the bottom smooth and easy to maintain.
